The National Library and Archives continues its efforts to carry out its mission and achieve its cultural and societal goals through  an event which shall be held on November 15, 2023 and will host a group of the UAE publishing and book industry sector’s concerned specialists, officials, and decision makers to review and discuss the sector’s encountered challenges, and present their innovative proposals for potential tools, and corrective actions to overcome them, and to suggest favourable new opportunities that include both paper and digital publications, along with digital transformation to maintain this sector’s sustainability.

The NLA organizes this year the Third International Translation Conference under the title: (Artificial Intelligence, Translation and the Enrichment of Public Libraries). The conference constitutes a multilingual scientific and academic forum, which hosts worldwide elite researchers in various fields of translation studies.  The NLA conference events include professors from major universities in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa, in addition to professors from local and regional universities and research centers.

The National Library and Archives is pleased to organize a free introductory course in translation entitled (Translation between Theory and Practice)

The duration of the course is 20 training hours and will be held from 19 to 22 December 2022.

• The training workshops and lectures will be delivered in Liwa Hall in the National Library and Archives building in Abu Dhabi.
• The course activities will last for four consecutive days, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
• The training workshops and lectures will be presented by Professor Saddik Gohar, the translation expert in the National Library and Archives.
• Employees in all government and private sectors, researchers and university students are eligible to apply for the course (the number is limited).
• Applicants who are interested in the course shall send their contact information through the link below within a period not exceeding December 12, 2022.
• Approvals will be sent to the nominated applicants no later than December 14, 2022.
• NLA recognized achievement certificates will be granted at the end of the course to all participants.

The National Library and Archives (NLA) hosts the government entities in a forum under entitled “How did government institutions support creative projects during the Covid-19 pandemic?”

Hosted in Abu Dhabi, the 33^rd edition of the Arab Federation of Libraries and Information Conference is held in collaboration with the National Library and Archives (NLA), under the theme “Integration of National Information and Knowledge Institutions in the UAE: Libraries, Archives and Museums”.  The NLA’s interest in this conference stems from its keenness to establish effective relations, enhance cooperation and concerted efforts to promote sustainable development. It will take advantage of the participation of high-level experts and professionals to establish an Emirati national library comparable to the world’s largest national libraries to be a civilizational and cultural beacon for the United Arab Emirates.

The latest edition of the conference is interested in libraries, archives and museums as they are essential institutions in states, which are keen in preserving and allowing access to knowledge, heritage and memory of the nation. The 33^rd edition of the conference will address the technical developments, the changes in field of data and the development of interactive communication, and it will also discuss useful and distinctive international experiences.
