The National Archives organizes historical photo exhibitions displaying Sheikh Zayed's biography and achievements.


Concurrently with the Year of Zayed and within the framework of the Centennial Initiative launched by the National Archives in celebration and commemoration of the Centennial birth  of the Founding Leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the National Archives organizes a national documentary exhibitions that tour the Emirates and regions of the UAE, and participate in national events documenting aspects of the Founding Leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan's life and biography, highlighting his role in building and establishing the UAE, and reflecting his achievements whether locally or internationally.

 The exhibitions document through historic photos the efforts of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, while shaping the first architectural development in the Emirate, and working primarily on human development through his visits to schools and his close and meticulous follow-up of construction, development and advancement. The photos also document aspects of the quantum leap witnessed first by Abu Dhabi and later by the United Arab Emirates at his hands, as well as his high aspirations for the modern achievements, as accomplished currently by the UAE.


During the months of May and June of this year, the National Archives' exhibitions were held in several prominent places and important events, to be viewed  by all segments of society, among which are: the University of Sharjah, Al Ain Distribution Company, ADNOC Distribution Company, the Dubai Police General Command, the Sharjah Press Club, the Armed Forces Officers Club, the Dubai Airports Corporation, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Joint Command and Staff College, the exhibition at the UAE Counter-terrorism Forum, and the exhibition of the Egyptian Ladies Association in celebration and commemoration of Zayed Humanitarian Day, an exhibition at Sharjah in celebration of International Archives Day participation, and other exhibitions at schools and colleges.


The historical photos displayed in these documentary exhibitions are only part of the National Archives’ holdings in its “Historical Photo Archive” and “Presidential Archive”, both documenting the history of the UAE through documenting the life and biography of the Founding Leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan with historical photos and documentary films. 


The exhibitions present photos that call to mind a past that is full of tireless efforts and diligent hard work; they also document the basis and roots of the prosperity and progress witnessed currently by UAE.


The National Archives' exhibitions contribute to the reinforcement of national identity and to promoting sense of loyalty and belonging to the homeland. They are inspired by aspects of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan's vision and approach, as well as his great achievements which are represented in the establishment of the Union and the attention devoted to Emirati women who perform their duty towards their society along with their fellow men, and the interest in agriculture, health and education, among others.


The National Archives seeks to spread the values of the Year of Zayed among members of the public, utilizing the heritage of Sheikh Zayed preserved and treasured within its precious collections that chronicle important stages of the history of the UAE, and depict various topics including public visits, official receptions, projects, environment, human development, agriculture and industry, among others.
