The National Library and Archives celebrates its launching of two books, namely: Al Dhafra Fort, and Al Dhafra Region, in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022
The National Library and Archives celebrates Al Dhafra region through its five new publications on Al Dhafra region launched at its platform in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022. Its great interest in this region came due to its importance in the history and heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and its great role in documenting the past of the United Arab Emirates.
Al Dhafra enjoys the privilege of being a historical area with excellence, it was - and will remain - the pride of the Emirati heritage. Its land includes many historical monuments, namely: inscriptions, engraved rock-drawings, historical buildings, wells and ponds. Its is famous for its abundant springs and water resources throughout its land, its people are renowned poets and poetry majlis or councils constitute an essential part of their authentic culture.
on these publications, which reflect the extent of the National Library and Archives’ interest in Al Dhafra region, His Excellency Abdulla Majed Al Ali, the Acting Director General, said: The distinctive geographical location of Al Dhafra region, its rich heritage, beautiful natural reserves, and fertile palm plantations which earned it the title of the date trade center. Under our wise leadership, it has become a center for various major projects - all of which attracted the attention of researchers and historians to Al Dhafra to examine its past when it was the stronghold of the Bani Yas tribe, and its present of various major projects, and modern cities, alongside which various schools and health centers emerged.
His Excellency added: The National Library and Archives takes pride in these publications, that were written by Emirati researchers and writers. We are highly interested in encouraging these writers who excel at documenting the nation's history, heritage, and the biographies of its great leaders, in line with the National Library and Archives’ role of providing intellectuals, academics and researchers specialized and documented historical information.
It is note-worthy that two books were recently launched by the National Library and Archives at its participating platform in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022: The first: (Al Dhafra Fort) by Abdullah Muhammad Al Muhairi, is a historical study which depicts the history of the Abu Dhabi Rulers and princes from Al Dhafra Fort to Qasr Al-Hosn in Abu Dhabi, and highlights the civilized role of the Bani Yas princes in the past and their heroic stances, through historical, geographical and demographic information on the first Bani Yas princes and on Al Dhafra region and its residents whether Bani Yas or Manasir, and on the resulting analysis and conclusions.
The second book which was signed today at the National Library and Archives’ platform is: (Al Dhafra Region in the United Kingdom Government’s political agent’s note in 1955) by Researcher, Ali Ahmed Al Kindi Al Marar. The book is based on the memorandum written by British government officials, including documented and accurate information on Al Dhafra regions, resources, tribes, sheikhs, and inhabitants’ lifestyle. The researcher contributed to the content of this note which is particularly important to the history of Abu Dhabi, and that of the UAE in general by adding some information and brief comments in the book’s footnotes to benefit readers, he also edited any found errors therein.
The National Library and Archives will continue the signing of other new publications on Al Dhafra region at its platform at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
