The National Library and Archives participated in the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by displaying a collection of historical photographs in Abu Dhabi’s halls 2024. This participation reflects its commitment to enriching this global sporting event with significant historical images relevant to the Grand Prix.
The photographs displayed by the National Library and Archives at this major sporting event highlight moments of the UAE’s founder and builder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may he rest in peace – personally driving his car. He was well known for this practice, especially during his inspections of construction projects and citizens’ living conditions when he served as the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain and later as the Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Some of the photographs display the progress and prosperity achieved by the United Arab Emirates under his visionary leadership and through the efforts of the great leaders who carried forward his legacy of building, development, and growth.
