National Archives Participates in "Sharjah Book Fair" with Recent Publications
About the Memory of Nation
The National Archives participated in the Sharjah International Book Fair, 2019. This participation came in line with its concern in publishing documented historical information, bridging the gap between the public and the Memory of the Nation and introducing the UAE civilizational and cultural heritage to the fair's visitors. The National Archives has great interest in participating in the fair as it attracts intellectuals, researchers and readers from the UAE and abroad. The fair has become a main pillar of local and regional march of culture. The participation aims at reinforcing the national identity in society, promoting the sense of belonging to the homeland and loyalty to its wise leadership.
The National Archives takes opportunity of the 38th edition of Sharjah International Book Fair to launch a number of its new publications in the presence of some of their authors. These publications open chapters of the history and heritage of the UAE and the Gulf region; highlight aspects of the biography of the founding leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. They present details the renaissance and comprehensive development that prevailed throughout the UAE during his auspicious era and the development and prosperity that prevailed in the UAE under the wise leadership that followed suit.
Publications of the National Archives also document many historical developments and events in the UAE region prior to the establishment of the Union, which reflect important milestones in the development and growth.
The 38th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair witnessed the signing of two newly published books by the National Archives: “That What Fatima Bint Mubarak Said”, and “Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Ruler of Al Ain (1946-1966)” in English, and the launching of another recently published National Archives' book, “The Golden Bubble”.
During the fair, the National Archives presented two volumes for sale containing 20 issues of its scientific journal "Liwa", which deals with the history, heritage and archeology of the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region.
The National Archives also launched the 3rd phase of "Zayed 100 Stories" initiative series, which it launched in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education as part of events of Zayed 2018. The National Archives, in cooperation with Ministry of Education, will honor the students who contributed to the success of the initiative, and the students will sign their books and present them as gifts to the public.
The National Archives stand at Sharjah International Book Fair provided access to the National Archives' publications, which are valuable in content and document the history and heritage of the Arabian Peninsula and the United Arab Emirates in addition to stories about their great leaders.
The National Archives takes the advantage of this fair to provide its Emirates Library with the latest and most valuable publications, which are also useful to researchers. The National Archives' purchasing committee, composed of experts and specialists, purchased a selection of books from the publishing houses participating in the fair that are relevant to the objectives of the National Archives.
The National Archives is keen on providing the Emirates Library with books from the Sharjah International Book Fair, as it is the 3rd largest fair in the world, a milestone in the history of UAE and Arab culture, a center for cultural diversity and an opportunity for communication with civilizations and exchange of knowledge and experience.
